Summer Read-to-Learn

All summer, I’ll be sharing books for kids of all ages on topics that will interest them or offer them something new to learn about. Most of the time, these will be nonfiction books, but sometimes we can learn from fictional stories too.

I hope you will stay tuned to these posts. They will always have Summer Read-to-Learn in the title and the tags. There will be books from some of my favorite publishers like Feeding Minds Press, Chronicle Kids, Twirl, Templar Books, Candlewick Press, and others as well as books on all kinds of topics kids love to read and learn about. Be sure to stop by each week to see what book I’m sharing as part of my Summer Read-to-Learn series.

Activity Book

Jane Mount is known for her bookish art. If you want a customized print of a stack of your favorite books, Jane Mount is your go-to artist. I previously shared her first children’s book, BOOKS MAKE GOOD FRIENDS in November and now we have this fun companion activity book perfect for the bookish kids in your life.

Books Make Good Friends Activity Book page 1

This activity book offers several crafts, games, stickers, and pages to add/color in your favorite books of the year. Summer is here and this makes for the perfect summer activity to pair with a reading challenge. Encourage them to fill in a Book Bingo or create a word list of excellent or new words from all the books they read this summer. There are pages to create their own book stack and a page to write their own short story. Kids will love filling in the reading time bookshelf after every reading session.

The activity book includes many of the same characters as the children’s book of the same name. I highly suggest gifting the picture book along with this activity book. Make this summer a reading summer with your kids by gifting this activity book along with a stack of books your child will be excited to read.

Jane Mount is an illustrator/designer/writer/thingmaker and particularly makes things for people who love books. She is the founder of Ideal Bookshelf, the author and illustrator of Bibliophile: An Illustrated Miscellany (Chronicle Books, 2018), and the illustrator and co-author (with Jamise Harper) of Bibliophile: Diverse Spines (Chronicle Books, 2021) and My Ideal Bookshelf (Little, Brown, 2012). She lives in a log cabin on Maui with her husband, three weird cats, and a speckled dog. Check out her website, HERE.
