Do you have a travel goal to visit all the National Parks in the US? I certainly do. From the list featured in this book, I’ve visited eight with over thirty to go. I think I better get busy.
Many of us are looking ahead to summer and family vacations this time of year. If visiting a National Park is on your list of things to do this summer, this book makes an excellent guide to planning your visits. This book offers a few highlights of each National Park that you won’t want to miss along with amazing photographs to entice you to visit even more.
The book is divided into four sections, West, Southwest, Midwest, and East. The majority of the National Parks are in the West section including Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Hawaii Volcanos, Crater Lake, and Zion to name a few. The beginning of the book opens with a brief history of the creation of the National Parks as well as a historical timeline from 1872 to 2019.
On my first pass through the book, I just looked in awe at the photographs and amazing views captured in each of the parks. There really is so much beauty in our great country and I can’t wait to experience it all myself. The author of the Yellowstone story wrote about visiting the park in the 1920s and 1930s. In her 90s now, she writes of many memories visiting the park as well as the changes over the years. Our family visited Yellowstone, the Badlands, and the Grand Tetons on a summer vacation several years ago. We have many fond memories of that trip as well as one we took to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, touring Pictured Rocks and climbing the Sleeping Bear Dunes. These are also areas I highly recommend for their beauty. In reading the articles about all of these parks, I agree with their points of interest and tips for visiting.
I think Zion National Park in Utah is next on my list, but not sure when we can work that into our schedules. It may be an empty nest vacation for us in the next couple of years. If you are looking to begin planning a National Park visit or are just curious about what makes each park special, I highly recommend this book. What National Park are you hoping to visit?
