An Itty-Bitty Epic

Sometimes a children’s book can be just as impactful for older kids or adults. The Dr. Seuss book, OH, THE PLACES YOU’LL GO! is often given as gifts at graduation because the book has meaning for seniors heading off on new adventures. In that same way, SPECK is appropriate for anyone who needs a little nudge to step out of their box, to venture out of their comfort zone, or needs support to pave a new path.
One tiny speck among thousands heads off on adventure looking for a place to claim as their own. Many will quickly find a spot, while others keep searching. Some join together to look while others drift apart. Doesn’t this sound a lot like life? The world can seem so big and overwhelming that finding what you are looking for is too hard.
By taking a leap of faith, you just might find the adventure you’ve been looking for all along. Even though younger kids won’t get the bigger meaning of this story, they can still understand that a little nudge to say hi to the new kid in their classroom, to try out for soccer, or say yes to a playdate just may be the perfect thing to send them off on a new experience.
The sea-scape illustrations, soothing ocean blues, and colorful fish make this children’s book a joy to look at while reading.
