The Storyteller is Griffin’s Grandma. She tells the best fairy tales, folklore, and legends. But, rather than just telling the stories, she makes them real by putting Griffin into the story and showing how he can be brave.
With tales like The Little Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel, and Jack and the Beanstalk, The Storyteller (Grandma) is preparing Griffin for life. As the light in her eyes starts to fade and her voice isn’t strong enough to bellow, Griffin knows he must do something.
Readers will be reminded of the power of storytelling and keeping the stories going on into the next generation. The illustrations are delightfully detailed and cross the folktale with reality. The relationship between Griffin and his grandma is portrayed as sweet and very special. This magical story is one to be passed on and reminded that it is always important to share our stories.
