This is the fourth book in The Digger Series that features a crew of construction vehicles that work in the city. They work together, play together, and when it is time for bed, they fall asleep together.
After one especially long day, they finally decided it was too dark to keep working and they got themselves ready for bed. They washed and brushed and said, “Goodnight”. But, before anyone fell asleep, a couple of raccoons appeared ready to play.
The crew decides they can play for a little bit, but a little bit turns into all night and they still have to work the next morning while the raccoons get to go to sleep. This continues for a few more nights and the crew is really struggling with getting their work done. How can they let the raccoons know that they need their sleep?
If you have a young child who is hard to put down for the night or begs for a longer bathtime or one more story, then this story is for you. Your child might not be heading off to work with the construction crew, but you as parents are likely heading off to work and need your rest. Or maybe your child is heading to school and needs a full night of sleep to do their best. Either way, this offers a chance to explain to your kids that everyone needs a full night of sleep to be at their best the next day.
The familiar characters from the series and the adorable raccoons will help teach a lesson on the importance of having a bedtime and getting a good night’s rest so that tomorrow can be full of work and play. There is also a great lesson to share about nocturnal animals and why they sleep during the day and play or explore at night.
