The newest in the Construction Site Holiday Lift-the-Flap Book series celebrates all the crew has to be thankful for. As they wrap up their latest job, everyone is filled with cheer. Each truck will wrap up their day by saying what they are thankful for.

Gratitude is an important concept for young children to grasp. At Thanksgiving and any time, it’s important to start a habit of being thankful. This story gives examples of simple and big things that kids can be thankful for just like the construction crew. Each page has a flap to lift to reveal something a crew member is thankful for. Dump Truck is thankful for the beautiful fall day and pumpkins along the road.

With a sharp and creative rhyming scheme, toddlers will notice that the crew is gathering items for a special celebration, Thanksgiving. I was surprised to see a new illustrator with this book, but you’d never know it. Kids will recognize the crew from the other much-loved books in the series. Get your child in the rhythm of being thankful with this new board book.

Helen Morgan is a UK-based children’s illustrator who likes to bring nostalgic images to life through watercolour, pen and ink and a touch of digital magic. With a background in animation, design and illustrating greeting cards, I have illustrated a number of books as both a ‘copy’ artist and under my own name for Chronicle Books, Oxford Union Press and Tiny Tree Books. Whether working on educational, activity or picture book illustrations, I like to create endearing traditional characters that are fun with a touch of vintage. Check out her website, HERE.
