Celebrating a new baby and all their firsts are such an amazing experience. McGhee has put that beautiful time into a story for parents to read to their children as they grow up.
Somewhere in the world, at this very moment, there is a new baby who is now the youngest person alive. What will be the first things the new baby sees, hears, smells, and touches? As the parents continue to share this experience with their child as he grows, they soon realize that someday he will have a new baby that is the youngest person alive and will start the cycle all over again.
This is a heartwarming story of parental love and those special moments of their child exploring their senses for the first time. The wonder of the child is present in the illustrations as well as the joy of the parents seeing their child take the first step or seeing the ocean for the first time. I teared up the first time I read through it and then again when I read it to my two great-nieces at bedtime.
McGhee and Alizadeh have collaborated to create a truly beautiful book and one to read again and again to your child. This would be the perfect book to give to new or expecting parents. Especially if you are the future grandparent, you should definitely gift this to your future grandchild. The sentiment inside this story is perfect for such an occasion.

When our daughter was little, I remember seeing SOMEDAY in the children’s section of Barnes and Noble and loving the sentiment in the story. I purchased it and read it often to her and am thrilled to add another Alison McGhee to our book collection.
