Children’s Book Week, established in 1919, is not only a celebration of books, but of connection. It is a vehicle to unite kids and adults with books, authors, and illustrators in order to foster a love of reading. We are inspired by educators, librarians, booksellers, parents, and caregivers and the creative ways they find to connect with kids every day. Because of that, we have created a more engaging Children’s Book Week experience for all in 2021!

Has your child ever come home from school or a playdate and been frustrated by another child? Does your child struggle with making friends? Hudson, the dog, and Tallulah, the cat, are neighbors but they don’t always agree on things. But, that doesn’t mean they can’t be friends.
Hudson breaks out of his backyard and Tallulah follows. They have an adventurous day together eating dumpster breakfast, chasing butterflies, visiting the dog park, and saying hello to the mailman. But, as dogs and cats often do, Hudson and Tallulah disagree on a few things and become angry with each other. As they return home, they come across a puddle full of birds and all disagreements are soon forgotten.
Weyant and Kang are a husband and wife team that has written wildly successful and entertaining books for kids. What is unique about this one is that it is inspired by their daughter Lily’s story that she wrote in second grade. With minimal words, the illustrations mostly tell the story of this unique friendship and remind readers that even when we disagree with others, there is usually something that you can agree on and maybe, even build a new friendship.
Anna Kang and Christopher Weyant are the author and illustrator of many children’s books. Christopher’s work can also be seen in The New Yorker, and his cartoons are syndicated worldwide. This husband-and-wife team lives in New Jersey with their two daughters and their rescue dog, Hudson, the inspiration behind the character in this book.
