This fun board book introduces the youngest readers to 6 different shapes. Four of them are shapes kids will likely be familiar with; square, rectangle, triangle, and circle. But, the other two shapes are more nontraditional, a lumpy shape and a squiggly line shape. Don’t miss this creative learning book for toddlers!
Beck encourages creativity, imagination, and silliness by joining the shapes together to show teamwork and fun. Kids can trace the shapes on the pages as well as find shapes inside the shapes. In the end, the shapes come together to make something special.
This board book is sturdy with thick pages and a glossy finish. The colors are vibrant and the illustrations are simple but stand out on the page. Kids will quickly learn the shapes and enjoy this quick read. This is Beck’s debut children’s book and I’ll definitely be looking for more from her.
Melinda Beck was an animator, illustrator, and designer for 15 years for Nickelodeon, the most popular children’s network in America, where her work was enjoyed daily by millions of viewers. Her work is in the collections of the New York Public Library and the Library of Congress.
