Roman is back with her seventh installment of her imaginative series, CAPTAIN NO BEARD. This series of stories shows children with vivid imaginations and taking pretend play to the ultimate by creating tales set on a pirate ship. Each of her stories teaches a lesson with this one taking the children on a trip following the North Star. In it, Captain No Beard wants to bring the fascinating light and color show of the Aurora Borealis home to watch forever. The rest of his crew teach him that he can’t just steal things he wants, even if it is to just borrow it for awhile. His crew also reminds him of why the aurora borealis is so special and why he can’t bring it home. His friends find a way to have their own colorful show at home.
Roman’s books never disappoint and this would make a wonderful series to add to your home library. The illustrations tell the story as much as the words do with funny facial expressions and characterizations. This is another great addition to the Captain No Beard series. Our kids were such big fans of the “Backyardigans” TV series on Nickelodeon and this book reminds of that show and the great fun that was had by creating stories with their imagination.

Sounds like a great series – that cover is charming!
